My writing includes frequent tonal shifts from post to post… let’s call it a feature, not a bug.
Today I’m thinking about breakfast. I searched through my (recently indexed) archive of old digital content and found this from my senior year of HS:
May 22, 2003
Tomorrow is sure to be a rather emotional day for me… the last hoorah, the final showdown, the end of an experience. It will be the last Friday morning breakfast with some of the people that have meant the most to me… We’ve gone every Friday this year, and in my times of “falling out”, those breakfasts helped me stay connected with those friends of mine.
I continued the tradition of Friday breakfast intermittently throughout college, then religiously through my first major career journey — despite shifts in venue, guest list, and specific time of morning.
When I left my job in late 2018, Friday breakfasts (for me at least) died, after I had carried the torch for the better part of 15 years.
But starting today, I’m bringing back Friday breakfast. Or at least a new iteration of it. Not booked for every Friday (yet), but holler if you’re reading this and are keen on a breakfast date — monthly, quarterly, or just once with no strings attached.
Come for the coffee.
Stay for the conversation.
Live for the connection.
