it’s been a battle just to wake and greet the day

Speaking up because silence feels complicit.

[content warning: the outside world]

With the reincarnation of this site, my intent was to be introspective, reflective. To document my inner thoughts.

But as I make an effort to look inward, I can’t ignore this dark thundering cloud overhead, often feeling like it’s physically pressing me into the ground.

I’m angry. I’ve been angry for a long time, the proverbial old man shaking his fist at that aforementioned cloud. Angry about income inequality ballooning while billionaires pit people against each other. Angry about privatization that guts and destroys public resources. Angry about deregulation that prioritizes corporate profits over our collective right to life and liberty.

It’s been happening for as long as I can remember… but we’ve recently begun a rapid and dramatic escalation. And I’m especially mad about the long-term damage happening right now, creating a weaker country and bleaker future for America’s children.

A few examples–

With the above and more, we find ourselves under the thumb of an anti-competitive, anti-Christian, big-government administration, being propped up by billionaires and the people whose ideals they co-opted and corrupted. I hope that eventually, many Christians and traditional conservatives will realize that they are being used, in service not of what’s in line with their ideology or America’s best interests, but to benefit corrupt billionaires seeking power, profit, and a world without accountability.

And personally, I feel like I’m watching that scene in The Truman Show, where Meryl says to the camera “Do Something” —

And I don’t know what to do or where to start. So I’m starting by speaking out. And I hope you, dear reader, will join me.

  1. 100% agree – everyone needs to continue to speak out about this. It is maddening, sickening, devastating, immoral, unjust, and so on. So many feelings. -Milda
