we disappoint, we leave a mess, we die, but we don’t.

Even small moments can make you feel alive.

getting ready to hit the bricks, just thought I’d write a few words.

i’m in the mood for a moment. like one of those moments that you never forget when something was just so clear or beautiful or just ideal… like that day i was leaving leslie’s with an opened 24-pack of cherry pepsi and i fell off of her front porch and the cans of pop went flying and i landed face up in the snow and the cans flew and rolled and one landed right next to my head… and i laid there staring up at the snow falling down and i smiled and laughed and enjoyed my own company… and everything was clear and nothing mattered and in that moment i was truly happy with everything in my life.

that’s the kind of moment i’m in the mood for.

in lieu of such an experience, i am sitting here listening to kelly clarkson and feeling emotional… and i like it.

“We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet: and, amid all the forms of life that surround us, not one, excepting the dog, has made an alliance with us.”

goodnight for now.

current mood: happy and tired

current music: kelly clarkson – behind these hazel eyes

i know exactly what you mean.

i think that there needs to be some ‘living’ as opposed to some ‘waiting’ for this moment. do what makes you happiest, not content, the moment is bound to show up somewhere along the lines.

or we can create our own. i’ll let you carry some pop, shove you down the steps and dump a bucket full of shaved ice over your head to add the effect of snow, and there ya have it.

  2. If I read that wrong you sound like total raving nutter, but I kind of know what you mean.

Sometimes I purposefully try to remember a scene like that, press it into memory. One time was also a winter scene, just the tranqility of a snow-covered evening on this residential street I always used to cut through walking to the subway, coming from work. The way the trees made it a bit tunnel-like, and the lonely streetlights…for some reason I decided that that would be one of the times I remember. Yesterday I walked by their with my girlfriend and that’s all I could think about.

  3. lieu is a french word, orginally. i forget what it means, now.

    1. lieu = place, as in “in place of”

      1. right, but i meant i didn’t remember what the literal french translation was. now i remember that it is avoir lieu, which means “to have taken place of.”

and there is your french lesson of the day.

Ross, why don’t I remember that fantastic moment leaving my house? You would think that that would be something I would have known about and remembered for it’s sheer fantasticness!!!

Hope you are well though and hope you get your moment!

  5. I’ve been gone for two weeks, and you didn’t even write a single entry?

    Pitiful.
