welcome to my mid-life crisis

A new chapter, an old habit, and the same restless voice.

I recently stumbled across an old email account from my college days, and it sent me spiraling.

Words from a lifetime ago written by (and to) a person I barely recognize, hinting that I once had an existence before this one.

Buried in the treasure trove of lost letters was a reference to LiveJournal — which led me to the realization that my deepest thoughts from those formative years were not only still out there, but had been sold to the highest bidder (and now must conform to the laws of the Russian Federation).

So I decided what better way to move forward than to take my words back, and move them to a platform with no controversial owners or operators — WordPress.com (face.)

I hope to post more here, but no promises… if for nothing else than future nostalgia (the feeling, not the dua lipa album by the same name).

So! Quick recap of what’s new since my most recent post in 2011:

  • Got married
  • Had a kid
  • Moved to my dream house
  • Had another kid
  • Learned to play piano
  • Had another kid
  • Quit my job
  • Started a business. Or two.
  • Quit my job again
  • Turned 40

I’m now living the life I always wanted, doing work that I genuinely enjoy with great people, all while making new memories with the family I love so dearly.

And yet… a calling… a thread… has pulled me backwards in time.

So I needed a place to write.

And that place is here.

current mood: conflicted

current music: ok go – a stone only rolls downhill
